Flying vs Driving to Myrtle Beach for Senior Week (MYR Airport Tips)

Should your crew fly or drive to Myrtle Beach for Senior Week? MYR airport tips, road trip rules and how to get to your rental.

4 min readUpdated Oct 2026By Myrtle Beach Club Card

Driving to Myrtle Beach usually makes sense for Senior Week if your crew can share a car and the trip is a day or less. Flying into Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) makes sense when you’re coming from far away. Either way, you won’t need a car once you’re there for party nights.

Here’s how to decide, what to know about MYR, and how to make a Senior Week road trip actually fun.

The quick decision

Drive if… Fly if…
Your crew can fit in one or two cars and split gas The drive would eat a full day or more each way
Someone in the group is comfortable with a long drive Nobody in your group can (or should) drive the whole way
You want a car for groceries and day trips You’re fine with rideshare, the bus and walking once you land
You’re bringing lots of stuff (beach gear, coolers, speakers) You can pack light (see our packing list)

Flying in: Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) tips

Myrtle Beach International Airport (code MYR) is the closest airport to the action. Once you land, you have several ways to get to your rental, according to the airport’s ground transportation page:

  • Rideshare: pickups are in a designated commercial lane across from Door 5 in front of the terminal. Drivers can’t park and wait, so be outside when your ride arrives.
  • Taxi: taxis wait outside Door 6 at Baggage Claim, first-come, first-served.
  • Bus: Coast RTA Route 15S stops on Jetport Road and serves the Grand Strand daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Hotel shuttle: some hotels include an airport shuttle. Ask yours before you book a ride.
  • Rental cars: available at the airport. Rental companies set their own minimum-age rules and young-driver fees, so check before you count on one.

Flying tips for grads

  • Bring your physical photo ID. You’ll need it at the airport and at every Senior Week party.
  • Pack your theme-night outfits in your carry-on in case a checked bag runs late.
  • Coordinate arrival times in your group chat so you can split one ride from the airport.
  • Screenshot your order confirmation before you fly, in case you land with weak signal.

Driving in: the Senior Week road trip

A road trip with your crew can be part of the fun. A few ground rules make it go smoothly:

  • Split the driving. Rotate drivers and never push through when someone’s tired.
  • Leave early. Arriving in daylight makes check-in and finding your rental way easier.
  • Split costs up front. Agree on how gas, tolls and parking get split before you leave.
  • Check parking at your rental. Ask how many cars are allowed and whether there’s a fee.
  • Park it for party nights. Leave the car at the rental and use rideshare to get to and from the venues. Read getting around Myrtle Beach without a car.

Road-trip checklist for the car

  • Phone mount and a car charger for every phone that needs one
  • A shared playlist (assign a DJ, rotate every stop)
  • Water and snacks so you’re not stopping every hour
  • Your rental’s address, check-in time and door code saved offline
  • Everyone’s ID and order confirmation in hand, not in a buried suitcase
  • A plan for the car once you’re there: where it parks, who has the keys

Arrival-day timeline

Whether you fly or drive, a simple plan for day one keeps the crew from wasting your first night:

  1. Arrive and check in. Walk the rental with your phone camera rolling to document its condition.
  2. Grocery run. One trip for breakfast, snacks and water, split evenly.
  3. Card sorted. Delivery call or pickup (details below).
  4. Beach. You made it.
  5. Rest, eat, get ready. Check tonight’s theme and outfit.
  6. Ride to the party, with a ride-home plan already agreed.

Once you arrive: two things to do on day one
