Fake IDs at Senior Week: Why It’s Never Worth It

Senior Week theme parties are 17+ with your real ID. How Club Card ID checks work and what South Carolina law says about fake and borrowed IDs.

You don’t need a fake ID for Senior Week in Myrtle Beach — and carrying one can get you turned away at the door and charged with a misdemeanor under South Carolina law. Our theme parties are 17+ with your real photo ID, concerts at House of Blues are all ages, and every Club Card is matched to the real ID of the person who owns it.

You’re Already Old Enough

This is the part a lot of grads don’t realize: Senior Week events are built for you.

  • Theme parties — Pardi Gras, Aqua Wet-N-Wild, LIT Ultra Glow, Snowfall, Neon Splash, Jersey Night — are open to graduated seniors 17 and up with a valid government-issued photo ID.
  • Concerts at House of Blues are all ages.

Accepted IDs are a driver’s license (including a learner’s permit), a state-issued ID card, or a U.S. passport or passport card. That’s it. No workaround needed. See every night on the Senior Week 2027 event schedule.

How ID Checks Work at Our Events

We check ID at every event, every night. When you pick up or get delivery of your Myrtle Beach Club Card, you sign the back of it. At the door, staff compare that signature and your name against your photo ID.

What that means for you

A fake or borrowed ID won’t match your card. Club Cards are non-transferable, so they only work for the person they were issued to — and lost cards aren’t replaced. Bring your real ID and keep it with your card.

What South Carolina Law Says

South Carolina takes license and ID misuse seriously. A few sections of the state code worth knowing (this is general information, not legal advice):

What the law covers Penalty
Displaying or possessing a canceled, revoked, suspended, or fraudulently altered driver’s license or ID card — and lending your license or ID to someone else (S.C. Code § 56-1-510) Misdemeanor. First offense: fine up to $200 or up to 30 days. Second or later: up to $500 or up to six months.
Altering a driver’s license to show false information, or selling or issuing a fictitious license (§ 56-1-515) Misdemeanor. Fine up to $2,500, up to six months, or both.
Using a license or ID card not issued to you, or one with false information, to defraud someone or violate the law (§ 56-1-515) Misdemeanor. Fine up to $100 or up to 30 days.

Notice the first row, § 56-1-510: lending your real ID to a friend is also against the law. If someone in your group “forgot” theirs, the answer is to go back and get it, not to share yours.

The Real Cost Is Your Week

Forget the legal stuff for a second. Picture how it actually plays out: you get stopped at the door, your night is over, your friends are inside, and now the rest of the week is awkward or worse. You paid for a card that gets you into every theme party during your week — the only thing that can mess that up is showing up with the wrong ID.

ID Checklist Before You Leave Home

  • Your real driver’s license, learner’s permit, state ID, or U.S. passport/passport card — not expired.
  • A photo of it saved on your phone, in case it gets lost (your physical ID is still what gets you in).
  • Your Myrtle Beach Club Card order confirmation, printed or on your phone, for pickup or delivery.
  • A small zip pouch or phone wallet so your ID and card stay together all week.

Lost Your ID During the Week?

It happens at the beach. A few ways to protect yourself:

  • If you have a U.S. passport card or passport, bring it as a backup and keep it locked in your room.
  • Keep your ID and Club Card in the same zip pouch, never loose in a pocket at the beach.
  • Retrace your steps and ask the front desk or venue staff if anything was turned in.
  • Call the hotline at 888-523-9076 with questions about your card. Remember, you’ll still need a valid photo ID at the door.

For Parents

The easiest way to help: before your grad leaves, check that their ID isn’t expired, snap a photo of it, and talk about why lending or borrowing an ID is a bad idea. Our events are designed for 17-year-old grads, so there’s no reason to take the risk.
